  • What is MMT?

    Medical Malpractice Takaful (MMT) is a comprehensive insurance product designed to protect medical practitioners against allegations of professional negligence, acts, errors, or omissions that may occur during the course of their professional healthcare services. Also known as professional medical indemnity insurance, it provides essential coverage to ensure practitioners can confidently perform their duties with the assurance that they are safeguarded against potential legal claims.

  • How to purchase?

    Individual coverage:

    1. Click Quotation
    2. Fill in the Application Form.
    3. You'll be automatically created a user portal account.
    4. You may also start by creating an account from the Login page. After creating the account, proceed by clicking the Quotation tab. Remember to use the same email you have used to register the account.

    For establishments coverage, please contact us by sending an email to [email protected] 

  • How long will I get my certificate?
    1. For individual coverage with no known claims, you will receive your certificate within 24 hours after we have received your payment, subject to approval, and business operation hours.
    2. For establishments, you will receive your certificate within 14 business days after payment, subject to approval.

  • What coverage will I get?
    Medical Malpractice Certificate for Individual Practitioner Including the following automatic extensions as per the terms and conditions of the certificate:
    1. Good Samaritan Acts
    2. Defamation
    3. Intellectual Property Infringement
    4. Loss of Documents
    5. Run Off Cover
    6. Emergency Defence Costs and Legal Representation Expenses
    7. Advancement of Defence Costs and Legal Representation Expenses
    8. Cyber and Privacy Infringement
    9. Retroactive Coverage

  • Do I get a hardcopy?

    Our service provides certificates exclusively in digital format. You will receive your certificate via email, and it will also be available for download in your account portal.

  • How much is the contribution for this plan?

    The contribution for this Takaful may varies individually depending on specialities, limit of liability, claim experience, and other underwriting considerations.

  • How much is the limit?

    You may choose one from below;

    Option 1 : RM250,000 any one claim and in the aggregate

    • Only for lowest risk category, ie Government Doctors, Student, Nurse and Medical Assistant. 

    Option 2 : RM500,000 any one claim and in the aggregate

    • Minimum for General Medical Practitioner, Lecturer, Goverment with Locum (non-specialist)

    Option 3 : RM1,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate

    • Minimum for private specialist, GP with Obstetrics, Government with Locum (specialist)

    Option 4 : RM1,500,000 any one claim and in the aggregate
    Option 5 : RM2,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate
    Option 6 : RM3,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate
    Option 7 : RM5,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate

    Please note that limit of liability differs according to nature of services.

  • How to make payment?
    1. You can make payment online by FPX, debit or credit card through our payment gateway partners. Login to your Account Portal, select Order, and click Pay to make payment.
    2. We also welcome cheque deposit and manual bank-in transfer upon request.
    3. Payment can also be made by walk-in to our nearest branches.

  • When can I apply for next year's application?

    Usually we will open on the 1st of July every year

  • Can you explain about the period of coverage available in the plan?
    1. Full 1-year coverage. (1st Jan until 31st Dec same year)
    2. Minimum 6-month coverage, with the period ending on 31st December each year. (31st July until 31st Dec same year)
    3. Any coverage less than 6 months in a given year will be prorated and extended to the next year.
  • Is my case automatically accepted after I submit my application?

    If there are no claims or alleged claims against you prior to your application, it should be accepted within minutes. However, please note that coverage approval is ultimately controlled by the insurer. We assure you of our commitment to efficient customer support within our capabilities.

  • When will my Takaful cover commence?
    1. We will acknowledge receipt of your application documents.
    2. We will process your application and seek approval from the insurer, only after we receive your payment.
    3. The commencement date will depend on your requested start of coverage. For example, if the start date is today or up to a maximum of 30 days prior, your coverage will commence accordingly.
    4. The same rule applies if you request to start coverage up to a maximum of 2 months in advance, or for the following year upon availability. The coverage commencement will follow this request.
    5. For backdated coverage, you will be prompted with a Letter of Undertaking attached with your certificate assuring there are no identified claims prior to the date of the coverage request.

  • In the event of a claim against me, what should I do?

    In the event of a claim or if you are aware of a potential claim, please email us at [email protected] no later than 90 days after the expiry of the Period of Takaful.

  • If there is a claim or alleged claim against me before application, will my application be accepted?

    This will be treated separately. We will need the claim and/or alleged claim details and may propose an offer with certain terms and conditions. 

  • I want to apply for my hospital/clinic. Is this the same?

  • Does having my own individual medical practioners' indemnity make me more likely target for a lawsuit?

    No, having your own takaful coverage does not make you a more likely target for a lawsuit. When something happens and a patient is injured, most lawyers will name everyone who was involved in the patients’ care in the lawsuit—whether you have your own coverage or not.

  • I am a government servant and not doing locums. Do I need to apply for professional indemnity coverage?

    It is highly recommended for you to own individual indemnity coverage because the government will not cover the cost of medico legal totally such as preliminary legal representatives. You will have to bear the cost yourself, which may take a substantial amount from your savings.

  • Can I increase my coverage limit?

    Yes of course, with condition that there is no ongoing claim on the date of request. You will be required to top-up the prorated amount of the year. If you have an ongoing claim, it will be subject to approval.

  • I have recently changed place of practice. Should I update my certificate?

    As for individual coverage, you have the option not to update your place of practice in your existing certificate. Unless there are changes in your category or risk exposure.

  • Can I include MMT for tax redemption?
